A product of Antonio Vivaldi’s full artistic maturity, the Serenata RV 690 is a work still little known to the general public and at the same time full of mysteries for scholars.
On stage, the story unfolds of the unfulfilled love between the nymph Eurilla and the shepherd Alcindo, who, cynical toward the sentiment of love, firmly rejects her. With the cunning and complicity of her friend Nice, Eurilla pushes Alcindo to discover the true nature of the feelings that bind him to her. However, at the very moment when the young man decides to reveal his love, the trap set by Eurilla is unveiled: outraged by what she believes to be yet another lie, she gathers nymphs and shepherds to punish Alcindo’s proud arrogance.
