Opening the new opera season at the Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti in Modena on Friday, October 11 and Sunday, October 13, 2019, will be La bohème, in a new production by the Modena theater in co-production with Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza, Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini and, for the stage setting only, with the Opéra de Marseille. The title is presented as part of the celebrations dedicated to Luciano Pavarotti within the context of Modena City of Belcanto and inaugurates a new project that includes the performance of operas interpreted by the tenor in order of debut. It is with this Puccini masterpiece that Pavarotti sang his first role, in Reggio Emilia in 1961 and shortly after, on May 4, in Modena. The direction is by Leo Nucci, a true star of the opera world, who performed alongside Pavarotti in great successes and historic performances. At the Modena theater, where he celebrated his fifty-year career in 2017, Leo Nucci was appreciated for directing L’amico Fritz in January 2016. In the role of the tenorissimo will sing Matteo Desole, one of the young talents trained in Modena by Raina Kabaivanska before performing on prestigious stages such as La Scala in Milan and the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The musical direction is entrusted to Aldo Sisillo, director of the Teatro Comunale di Modena.
